Stories Make All the Difference
The Green Mountain Book Festival honors free expression, embraces diverse voices, and encourages a deeper understanding of self and community through a shared love of reading and books. Your donation helps us establish and sustain the festival’s presence in Burlington.
National and Local Authors
Green Mountain Book Festival hosts authors across numerous genres at various stages of their careers. From Vermont favorites to best sellers to emerging authors, the festival is proud to bring a diverse, exciting group of authors to the community.
Mountains of Books
The festival’s exclusive bookseller is Vermont’s independently-owned Phoenix Books. Our resident book experts will sell books by featured authors at their flagship downtown Burlington store, provide pop-up stores at our festival sites, and host book signings with festival authors.
The Future of the Green Mountain Book Festival
Following last year’s festival, the GMBF board has decided to recalibrate the nonprofit festival to ensure its longevity.
Moving forward, our goal is to run a lean and focused series of events that place a focus on a variety of genres and topics while also spotlighting Vermont’s incredible community of authors writing in those subjects.
We aim to run these festivals as packed, one-day events that feature a headlining author with additional voices and programming running throughout the day in support of that event’s topic.
Our commitment will remain the same: focusing, fostering, and highlighting Vermont’s writing community in a time when the arts are under attack.
